Your Own Hollywood Star

It's Oscar weekend, and movie fans are gearing up for the Superbowl of all awards shows. Red carpet fashion, glittering movie stars, little golden statues -- it's classic Hollywood glamour at its best. Here's an easy way to create your own piece of Hollywood memorabilia -- the perfect project to keep the kids entertained at your Oscar party.

Here's what you'll need:
Construction paper; black, pink, yellow
Ruler
Scissors
Permopaque gold marker
Glue stick
White tempera paint
paintbrush

1. Use a ruler to draw a star on pink construction paper. Cut out the star.

2. Glue the star to the center of the black construction paper.

3. Grab your gold permopaque marker and write your child's name in block lettering on the star. Trace the edge of the star with the marker as well.

4. Cut a small circle from yellow construction paper and glue it to the center of the star. Draw an icon (like a heart) inside the circle with the gold permopaque marker and line the edge of the circle as well. Now, paint the palms your child's hands using white tempera paint and have her press her hands to the paper on either side of the star.

5. Finally, paint your child's name and the date below her star.
