Bosch 1617EVSPK Review

I love the Bosch 1617EVSPK. It hollows out my woodworking projects just fine, resulting in more complex and ornate structures that my customers demand from me. When I bought the product, the box contained quite a lot of accessories such as a carrying case, a plunge and fixed base, chip shields for both of the bases, wrenches, and collet chucks. In other words, you won’t have to buy extra accessories everywhere, it’s already included in this kit and then some.

It’s like having different routers in one router with the way it can be customized and adjusted by speed and by base. This is why I gave this product a rating of 9.5 out of 10.

Things to Improve

The Bosch 1617EVSPK Combo Router isn’t a perfect router by any stretch of the imagination despite its high ratings. It has flaws that have left a certain portion of the reviewers who’ve availed of it miffed and disappointed.

To be more specific, even though these customers do agree that the machine’s positive comments and reviews are well-earned, it also suffers from issues and detriments such as a base plate that might require resetting even though it’s already centered at the factory if you’re doing close tolerance work involving a Leigh dovetail jig and whatnot. You should beware because high-tolerance operations can break this router apart.

Conclusion

Although there are complaints about the Bosch 1617EVSPK having a side-to-side wobble when used in plunge mode, resulting in a bit that ruins router accuracy, these few and far between.

For the most part, the customers can’t stop raving about its precision centering to keep the bit on carving out the intended outline when using dovetail fixtures. Any flaw can be fixed, customized, and adjusted, but for people not doing high-tolerance operations, the device works just fine. It’s doable.
